Nederland Helpt Yezidis

Nederland Helpt Yezidis, (Netherlands Helps Yezidis) or (NLHY), founded by Yezidi Human Rights Activist, Wahhab Hassoo, and based in the Netherlands, advocates on behalf of Yezidis, a small, but critically important, ethnic and religious minority whose ancient homeland is found in the Sinjar Mountain region and the Nineveh Plains of northern Iraq.

The NLHY is an independent network of legal and human rights volunteers. NLHY seeks to advance the cause of justice for the Yezidis by demanding that the perpetrators, as well as those who aided and abetted, the genocide be held legally and financially accountable.

Wahhab Hassoo is afkomstig uit de Irakese Jezidi-gemeenschap, een minderheidsgroepering in het Midden-Oosten. In 2014 werd een groot deel van zijn familie vermoord door IS. Met Yazidi Legal Network verzamelt hij nu bewijsmateriaal om IS-strijders te berechten. “Verhalen van Jezidische ex-slavinnen kunnen belangrijk zijn als er ooit een tribunaal komt.”

In Mijn Missie volgen wij mensen die de wereld een stukje beter willen maken. Wij geloven dat kleine acties kunnen leiden tot gróte een verandering, dat er mensen zijn die vooroplopen, zoals Wahhab.

A majority of Dutch MPs have backed a motion calling the crimes committed by IS against the Yazidi people in northern Iraq as genocide and a crime against humanity...I hope that this motion is the first step in bringing the perpetrators to justice and offering the victims the help they need.
